What is Change for Change?
Change for Change is Community Market’s giving program that supports local nonprofits and community organizations doing essential work in our community. When you shop at Community Market, you can choose to round up your total at the register or donate a specific amount.
All of the money goes directly to the featured organization. There are no processing fees and no overhead taken out. Just community members supporting community work.
Rounding up at the register might mean a few cents or it might mean a little more. Either way, when a lot of people give what they can, it adds up. That is the power of Change for Change. It is a small, everyday way to show up for one another.
We are proud to highlight local organizations and help share the work they are doing. The next time you are shopping, consider adding a little extra at checkout. If you would like to suggest a future Change for Change recipient, you can reach out to our Community Outreach and Event Coordinator.
Supporting Community Based Healthcare in West Sonoma County
West County Health Centers is one of Community Market’s Change for Change recipients, providing essential, community based healthcare to more than 10,000 patients across West Sonoma County.
In this video, Kyla Ehrenreich, Physician Assistant and Associate Medical Director at West County Health Centers, shares the scope of their work, who they serve, and why community based healthcare matters to our community.
Who They Serve and What They Provide
West County Health Centers currently serves more than 10,500 patients, with a focus on meeting people where they are and providing care that reflects the real needs of the community.
Their services include primary medical care, dental services, perinatal care for pregnant patients, youth and school based health clinics, gender affirming care, HIV services, and substance use support. In addition to clinical care, they offer a robust wellness program that includes acupuncture, nutrition support, movement based group visits such as qi gong and tai chi, and other preventative health services.
This holistic approach recognizes that health is shaped by more than what happens in an exam room. It is shaped by access, stability, education, and community support.
Why Change for Change Matters
Like many community health organizations, West County Health Centers operates within a healthcare system that relies heavily on insurance reimbursements. While these reimbursements support basic care, they often do not fully cover the expanded services, wellness programs, and infrastructure needed to serve patients well.
Community support helps bridge that gap. Donations through Change for Change help West County Health Centers continue offering critical services, rebuild and expand facilities, and invest in programs that prioritize prevention, education, and long term health outcomes.
One of their current major projects is rebuilding their wellness center in Forestville after it was damaged by fire. Community support plays an important role in making this work possible.
