What is Change for Change?

Change for Change is our monthly giving program that supports local nonprofits doing important work in our community.

Every time you shop at Community Market, you can round up your total at the register or donate a specific amount, whatever feels right to you.

All of the money goes straight to that quarter's featured organization. No processing fees. No overhead. Just community generosity making a difference, one small act at a time.

We're proud to lift up local groups doing meaningful work, and we love helping share their message. Next time you're shopping, consider adding a little extra at checkout!

This Quarter’s Recipient: Positive Images

Positive Images has been part of Sonoma County’s LGBTQIA+ community for over 30 years. It started as a youth support group, founded by the late Jim Foster, whose care and vision helped shape a space where people could truly be themselves. Today, his legacy lives on through a thriving community center that supports both youth and adults.

They offer peer-led support groups, leadership programs, mentorship, and all kinds of community events that bring people together across generations. Over the years, Positive Images has partnered with and grown alongside other local orgs to expand their reach and deepen their impact.

This year, they released the 2024 Sonoma County Queer Needs Assessment, an important report that lifts up the voices of our local queer community and outlines what they need most, from housing and safety to mental health and education.

And on August 1, they’ll be hosting their annual Gayla, a joyful fundraiser and celebration that brings the whole community together in support of this work.

We’re honored to support Positive Images through our Change for Change program. Every time you round up at the register, you’re helping them continue the amazing work they do and helping keep Jim Foster’s legacy going strong.

How You Can Help

This is what community care looks like. Every time you round up your purchase at the register, you're joining in a quiet act of solidarity. It might be a few cents. It might be more. But when we all give what we can, it adds up to something powerful.

This is mutual aid. This is how we uplift each other. One choice, one transaction, one moment of generosity at a time.

Want to help choose who we support next? We’re always open to suggestions.

Email your ideas to Dawn, we’d love to hear from you!

Give if you can. Share if you’re moved. Every bit helps.
